This study evaluated the effectiveness and safety of pembrolizumab (Keytruda) given after surgery in patients with stage II melanoma. The data showed that pembrolizumab given after surgery for up to 1 year significantly reduced the risk of cancer recurrence or death in these patients.

This study evaluated the benefits of radiation therapy (RT) dose escalation and the addition of short-term (ST) or long-term (LT) androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) to RT in men with localized prostate cancer (PCa). The data showed that the addition of ST or LT-ADT to RT improved survival without metastasis in these patients, regardless of the RT dose.

The study aimed to investigate if anti-CD19 chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy and ibrutinib (Imbruvica) could be combined for the treatment of patients with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL).  

This study concluded that adding anti-CD19 CAR T-cell therapy (CART-19) to ibrutinib treatment in these patients led to durable remissions.  

This study assessed the accuracy of whole-body (WB) magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in evaluating the treatment response of blood cancers. The data indicated that WB-MRI had a high diagnostic performance for assessing the treatment response of blood cancers and its addition was strongly linked to better diagnostic sensitivity.

This study reported the final effectiveness and safety of subcutaneous (SC) injections versus intravenous (IV) infusions of daratumumab (Darzalex) in patients with relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma (MM). The data showed that daratumumab SC injections were as effective and caused fewer side effects than IV infusions over the long term in these patients.

This study evaluated the effectiveness and safety of continuous subcutaneous night-time only apomorphine (Apokyn) infusion for the treatment of insomnia in patients with Parkinson’s disease (PD). The data showed that continuous subcutaneous night-time only apomorphine was effective in improving sleep disturbances in patients with advanced PD and moderate to severe insomnia with manageable side effects.

This study evaluated the effectiveness and safety of adding venetoclax (Venclexta) to a dose-adjusted EPOCH-R (etoposide, prednisone, vincristine, cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin, and rituximab) regimen as initial therapy in patients with aggressive B-cell lymphoma. The data showed that venetoclax with dose-adjusted EPOCH-R was effective with manageable side effects in these patients.

This review evaluated the safety and effectiveness of vitamin E supplementation in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA). The authors concluded that regular supplementation with vitamin E can help to improve the overall quality of life (QoL) in patients by reducing joint discomfort, swelling due to excessive fluid buildup in tissues (edema), and joint stiffness.

This study evaluated the effectiveness of panretinal photocoagulation (PRP) plus intravitreal anti-VEGF treatment versus PRP alone for the treatment of patients with diabetic retinopathy (DR; diabetic eye disease). The data showed that PRP with anti-VEGF combination treatment improved vision without an increase in side effects compared to PRP alone in these patients.

This study investigated the long-term effectiveness of ibrutinib (Imbruvica)–rituximab (Rituxan) (IR) treatment versus standard chemoimmunotherapy (CIT) in patients aged 70 or younger with previously untreated chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL). The data showed that the IT regimen significantly improved the survival outcomes compared to standard CIT over the long term in these patients.
